Contract: Full time
Salary: Circa £80,000, plus benefits
Are you a People Focused Facilities Management Professional and would like to move into a more strategic role?
Perhaps you are looking for a position that is less operational than your current one? And you'd like to work on large projects that often have a global reach.
At Cambridge Assessment, as our Director of Services and Property you will be leading a small, supportive and highly capable team (of direct reports) and delivering positive change to our employees all over the world and working with colleagues in country as well as at our HQ in Cambridge.
Perhaps you already have significant strategic experience and are looking for the next step up or maybe you currently spend too much of your working life on the operational side and would like to become more project focused and take that aerial view towards change and making facilities better for the end users.
More about you
You are a natural problem solver and project based professional, with experience in FM and a genuine hunger to improve facilities and a desire now to take on a more interesting, varied and multi-faceted role.
As the team trailblazer you will be high on EQ and inter-personal skills, building collaboration and commitment from your team, whilst also working closely with our IT division, Health and Safety, HR and our Change and Transformation Teams.
We have ambitious plans for our organisation and its future growth, so you'll be a change aficionado and comfortable working on several projects simultaneously.
We are not just interested in your facilities management experience; we also want to hear about your softer skills and what type of line manager you are.
You will be someone who builds trust quickly. is empathetic collaborative and an effective communicator.
Don't be put off applying if you lack formal FM qualifications, real on the job experience is more valuable and we are flexible on the sectors you have previously worked in before. You will likely have an understanding of engineering but don't need to be a purist or have an extensive engineering background.
A bit about our current facilities
We recently (2018) moved into the Triangle Building in central Cambridge (10 min walk from the station), and without blowing our own trumpet we already think our facilities are impressive. The successful post holder will be an advocate for change and lead on improvements of the customer service and experience for our staff and will build relationships with other offices, and then oversee improvements there too, together with your team (You will have line management of 5 direct reports).
Some highlights at the Triangle include: a wellbeing centre, a pizza oven (and a salad bar for those healthy days), a heavily subsidised staff restaurant (with a range of options including vegan), a large terrace for al fresco dining and meetings in summer months.
We even have a table tennis area outside (which isn't getting much use at the moment)
More about the focus of the role
We have a real focus at Cambridge Assessment on staff wellbeing, inclusiveness and mental health and this is something that will remain a key driver in decisions that will be made by the appointed director in this role. Our building is designed to be environmentally friendly and a place where physical and psychological health are maximised for our staff.
Aside from the above there will be lots to get your teeth into in this role:
Our mission is to be a Times Top 100 Employer and we see this role playing a pivotal part in our journey.
You'll be looking at the bigger picture and how our environment can support and help develop our plans to change the organisational culture and you'll be working to strengthen and shape your team as we all work towards this goal.
We are looking to increase collaboration with Cambridge University Press (who are based across the road from us) as well as with our global offices. We currently work in 170 countries and have offices in places including: Mexico, Greece and Ghana, so whilst you will be based in The Triangle you will also reserve some love and attention for our offices in Coventry and Gateshead and our printing and dispatch sites in Papworth and Duxford (this is where the magic happens and our exam papers are brought to life).
There may be some (but not excessive travel) so you can meet these colleagues face to face, but this is not a mandatory part of the role.
If any or all of this sounds like you, we look forward to hearing from you.
