Colchester United Community Foundation (CUCF) and the Colchester United Academy has an exciting opportunity available for the 2024/25 season!

CUCF provides high quality participation, health & inclusion, and education programmes to 9,000 children, young people, and adults from across the region each week, whilst the Colchester United Academy, one of only two League 2 Clubs with Category 2 status in England, provides professional development opportunities to players aged 9-21years.

Both CUCF and the Colchester United Academy are looking to appoint a professional, dedicated, and confident Boys Development Centre Lead/Academy Coach on a full-time basis to join our club and community teams (32-hour Community Foundation Contract and a part time sessional Academy Contract (Average 8-12hours per week) making up a full-time role).

This position is a key appointment within the charity and the football club, and you will require tenacity and the creativity to overcome obstacles and challenges, while having a large part to play in the success and positive impact on, colleagues, players, participants, their families, the club and our communities. You will have to be a leader and have the power to inspire and motivate people on and off the pitch.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • UFEA B Coaching Award
  • FA Introduction to First Aid in Football
  • FA Safeguarding Children
  • Enhanced DBS check - willing to complete a CUFC Enhanced DBS Check
  • Full Clean UK Driving License

Desirable Qualifications & Experience:

  • UFEA A Coaching Award
  • Advanced Youth Award
  • FA Level 2 Emergency Aid (EFAiF) (Or willing to complete)
  • Multisport qualifications
  • Previous experience working with Football Development/Community Development/Academy Coaching environments

Roles & Responsibilities:

Develop

  • Develop positive and effective relationships and partnerships with colleagues, players, parents/guardians on and off the pitch.
  • Develop participation within the Community Foundation Football Pathway strengthening alignment of coaching syllabuses across football programmes and the club's talent pathway.

Deliver

  • Deliver leadership and the drive of Football Programmes within CUCF meeting KPI and development targets.
  • Deliver a high-quality provision and experiences on all participation, and community programmes.
  • Deliver a high-quality coaching and education within the club's academy football programme.

Support

  • Support with the development and increased engagement of players within the Boys Development Centre programme and CUCF as an organisation.
  • Support with the development and increased engagement of players towards individual and collective developmental targets within the club's academy pathway.

Collaborate

  • Collaborate with colleagues, players, and parents/guardians to maximise impact in helping players and participants realise and reach their potential.
  • Collaborate with colleagues within Participation Team including the Girls Talent Pathway, grassroots, and holiday programmes to maximise recruitment and development of staff and the programme.
  • Collaborate with multi departments within the academy structure to maximise player development towards potential (Sports Science/S&C, Physio/Rehab, Sports Psychology, Player Care).

Evaluate

  • Evaluate programme development and the impact on participation and quality of delivery with support of the CUCF Head of Delivery.
  • Evaluate the impact and success of delivery by collecting data (Where applicable), feedbacking case studies, and showcasing success.
  • Evaluate development and the impact and coaching through Individual learning plans (ILP's).
